Dermocosmetics
Dermocosmetics – is a group of care preparations that contain biologically active substances. Their action resembles the effects it obtains from the use of drugs. Popular types of pharmacy cosmetics include, among others, anti-wrinkle creams or moisturizing creams. Cosmetics of this type are subjected to dermatological tests, which allows them to obtain a wider effect, similar to the action of classic drugs. We can only talk about dermocosmetics – unlike nutricosmetics, which are administered orally – if we are dealing with products that have a local effect and are placed on the surface of the skin. The most common ones include creams, ointments or lotions.
Pharmacy preparations can be much more effective and safer compared to classic cosmetics in the fight against skin problems such as acne, bursting capillaries, atopic dermatitis or psoriasis. Dermocosmetics can also be successfully used in the case of sensitive skin due to the use of safe, dermatologically tested ingredients that are much less likely to sensitize and do not lead to allergies. A good solution may also be the use of this group of cosmetics when caring for sensitive skin of pregnant women, infants and young children. Dermocosmetics usually have mild preservatives and avoid irritating fragrances, which may turn out to be a much better choice in this case than classic drugstore cosmetics. Regardless of what skin problem we are currently struggling with, it should first of all remember to pay attention to their composition and purpose when choosing cosmetics, as well as to adapt them to the current needs of our skin. Preparations of this type are more and more often chosen also by men who decide on less irritating and soothing cosmetics for shaving or after shaving.
